Mitcham Cultural Village

Looking for Something to do in the City of Mitcham?

The City of Mitcham is a vibrant neighbourhood with plenty to do for residents and visitors. Within our centres you will find activities offered for children, mums, dads, retirees, singles and teens – you are sure to find an activity or group that is perfect for you! There are a range of classes available at the centre including woodworking, film making, KUMON, pilates, Bridge and yoga. In addition there is a large selection of Art Classes offered by Gallery One including Life Drawing, Acrylics, Quilting and Lace making.

Built 1870 the Mitcham Village Institute was built as a joint venture of the Mitcham School Committee and the Mitcham Institute Association. Used by the school until 1879, as the Council Civic Centre from 1880-1908 (when the East Wing was added) and by the library until 1966; this beautiful building can now be hired by groups and for provide bookings.

Gallery One Art Classes

Gallery One holds weekly art and craft classes for adults and children, tutored by some of South Australia's most respected artists.  Students are encouraged to become active members of the gallery by participating in exhibitions. Specialised workshops and artists' demonstrations are a feature of the annual program.  Daily classes available including life drawing, painting, sewing, lace  making, felting and more.
