Originally owned by the Gamble family, the Gamble sisters gave the Cottage to the City of Mitcham in 1982 for public use. Managed by the Friends of Gamble Garden, the garden is open at all times to the public. Special open days occur on the third Sunday monthly when special exhibitions are held in the Cottage, Friends of Gamble Garden are in attendance to give advice and talk about the garden.

The garden is always open and can be visited by any member of the public. There are special open days on the third Sunday monthly (except December and January) 2pm - 4pm. Cottage is open by arrangement or for hire.
Car parking is available or catch the Belair line train to Blackwood station and walk down Main Road to Dorham Road (on the right).
