New Shelter for Apex Park

Apex Park , a popular reserve at Hawthorndene, now has a new shelter thanks to the generous donation of the Lions Club of Blackwood.

In early 2008 the Lions Club of Blackwood began planning and fundraising for a community shelter for a park in the Blackwood area.

The Club, in consultation with Council, chose Apex Park at Hawthorndene as the park is extremely popular with families.

Following approval by Council of the plans, volunteers from the Lions Club of Blackwood with local business assistance and a first aid person from the Lions Hearing Dogs including a dog set to work building a shelter over the BBQ and seating area in the park.

The shelter was funded with profits from the Lions Shed.

The City of Mitcham would like to thank the Lions Club of Blackwood, local businesses and the Lions Hearing Dogs for a wonderful new addition to Apex Park located at Watahuna Avenue in Hawthorndene.
