SA Housing Code
The South Australian Housing Code sets out deemed-to-satisfy provisions for the construction of Class 1a and Class 10a buildings (as defined in the Building Code of Australia (BVA 1996) Volume 2) that will meet the requirements of the South Australian Development Act and Regulations 1993.
The Housing Code is called up in the SA Appendix to BCA 1996 as an acceptable construction manual which is deemed to satisfy the performance requirements of the BVA for commonly used materials and methods of construction. Construction in accordance with the Housing Code will satisfy the general requirement for Structural adequacy for Class 1a and Class 10a buildings in any part of South Australia allowing for variations in climate and geological or geographic conditions.
The 2002 South Australian Housing Code is available for $35.00 plus $2.50 postage (price includes an Adelaide Metropolitan Area Wind Speed Map).
