Mitcham is preparing for this year's bushfire season

The fire season starts on 1 December and we are preparing for this year’s bushfire season. We live in one of the most beautiful areas of Adelaide, the Mitcham hills is home to many parks, natural bushland reserves and native trees but it is also located in our high fire risk area. With the fire season fast approaching Council is already preparing by cutting roadside verges, clearing and maintaining fire breaks and cutting reserves in the hills areas covering Lynton, Torrens Park, Mitcham, Brown Hill Creek, Leawood Gardens, Crafters West, Upper Sturt, Belair, Glenalta, Hawthorndene, Coromandel Valley, Craigburn Farm, Blackwood, Bellevue Heights, Eden Hills, Panorama and Pasadena. Please prepare your home and property for the bushfire season. A well prepared home is more likely to survive a bushfire than one that hasn’t been prepared. To help you prepare you can dispose of your green waste for free at our Green Waste Depot at Lynton every Monday and Saturday in November between 9am and 3pm.
