The Foyer Art Gallery presents Sister Act by Rosemary Helmis and Margaret Rennie an exhibition of sculpture and paintings of animals and still life at the City of Mitcham Civic Centre, 131 Belair Road, Torrens Park until 17 December 2018.

Rosemary Helmis

As a recent retired art teacher I now have the opportunity to be more involved with my arts practice. I am currently working at the Henley and Grange Art Society. My work is sculptural and not utilitarian or functional.  By exploring the potential of the clay medium I have endeavoured to extract the beauty of the human spirit and the Australian landscape which I see as harsh, abrasive and enduring, not soft and romantic. I find the act of creativity and expression good for my inner soul. It enables me to connect and communicate with people without written or verbal language.

Margaret Rennie

My love of art started in early school days and now 50 plus years on the passion is still there. I have been fortunate over the last ten years to be in a position where I have attended many workshops by prominent artists to widen my scope and to try new techniques. I am now experiencing mediums of oil, pencil, charcoal and ink. I would have to say my passion for painting tends to be portrait painting, animals and still life. The exhibition on display “Sister Act” is shared with my sister covering art and ceramics.

The Gallery is open Monday to Fridays 9am to 5pm. For more information please contact 8372 8888.
