Bookings

Request for regular bookings and bookings for more than one date can be made by completing the Venue Hire Request Form 2018 2019 2020(1285 kb).  

Our Community Centres are shared community spaces, you can expect to be sharing the kitchen, toilets and hallways with other uses. There are likely to be other community groups also using other rooms in the facility at the same time you are there.

Please note that this booking has not yet been confirmed and is subject to verification from our booking officer who will contact you within seven business days regarding your booking. Please note that we are not a function centre so are unable to provide an immediate response to your hall query.

Centrally located next to the Waite Reserve the centre has two large function rooms for hire.

Cumberland Park Community Centre | 388-390 Goodwood Road

Centrally located opposite the Westbourne Park Primary School the Cumberland Park Community Centre is a large site that has two buildings located on it. If you need a large space to hold a class, concert or event, the Andy Todd Hall or Westbourne Park Memorial Hall are both perfect. In addition there are purpose built smaller rooms for meetings, workshops and seminars.

Mitcham Cultural Village | 103 Princes Road, Torrens Park

If you are looking for a historic building set amidst paved and landscaped grounds in a historical “village” like atmosphere to impress your guests then hold your next event at the Mitcham Cultural Village. The Cultural Village consists of a number of facilities including the Community Centre, Heritage Centre and Community Woodworking Shed. It is also home to Gallery One, a dynamic and colourful arts facility that offers many community art programmes. The Institute Hall is equipped with a large modern kitchen with a servery, oven, pie warmer, refrigerator and crockery for up to 100; as well as a tuned piano, stage, balcony, disabled access and PA system.

Hawthorn Community Centre | 5 Frimley Grove

The Hawthorn Community Centre is a large built facility located in a beautiful part of Hawthorn just behind the Mitcham Library on Belair Road. It is nestled amongst shady trees next to Brownhill Creek, Meals on Wheels and ample parking serving these facilities. This hall can cater for groups up to 60 occupants, is air-conditioned, and has a large kitchen with a refrigerator and crockery for up to 70 guests. In addition to this, it also has a stage, piano, pool tables and a PA system.

Mitcham Community Centre | 242 Belair Road

Formerly the Mitcham Primary School, the historic Mitcham Community Centre is located directly opposite the Civic Centre on Belair Road, next to the Mitcham train station and across the road from Mitcham Shopping Centre. The Centre now includes a range of rooms for hire that have a central kitchen with crockery for up to 100 people, air conditioned rooms and approximately 50 on site car parks.

This is the cutest little hall to hold a party ever. Is fully fenced and adjoins both the tennis club and small playground out the back.

Colonel Light Gardens Institute Hall | 53 West Parkway, Colonel Light Gardens

Located in the heart of Colonel Light Gardens this is a cute little hall which is currently having a well earnt facelift.

This medium size hall is carpeted and has a separate kitchen and toilet area. The hall could be used for a variety of purposes including a meeting group, for a band or for dance rehearsals.

Bookings for Parks, Gardens and Reserves

Council reserves/parks are available for public use. Exclusive use or booking of a structure (shelter/gazebo) or area cannot be granted. However, depending on the nature of the request a Special Activity Application form may be required. There are two categories for events Community and Non-Community. A Special Activity Application form will need to be completed if you are:

  • Erecting any structures eg marquees, stage, tents etc
  • Catering for a large gathering of people
  • Procuring a Liquor Licence due to the sale or supply of alcohol
  • Providing amusement rides or animals (community events only)
  • Using electricity (community events only) or generators (depending on reserve)
  • Holding a wedding ceremony
  • Holding a fair/fete
  • Providing sound amplification equipment, entertainment, eg bands, music etc (community events only)
  • Using open flames or pyrotechnics (community events only)
  • Filming on Council Land this requires a Filming Application
  • Expecting more than 50 people to attend

Please Note: For Non-Community events Council does not allow the erection of tents/marquees/umbrellas, amusements eg jumpy castles, on reserves/parks that use pegs or stakes due to potential risk of damaging underground irrigation systems. Sandbags, concrete blocks or other methods can be used in some instances.

Looking for somewhere to hold a small class or workshop for between 10 and 30 people?

Consider Mitcham Community Centres Classrooms 2 or 3, 6 or 7; Cultural Village East Wing, Penang Hall or Blackwood Community Centre.
