Celebrate Christmas at the City of Mitcham's Carols by the Creek

30 November 2017

The City of Mitcham with the Flinders Private Hospital are delighted to present a night of Christmas carols and free family entertainment at the Carols by the Creek at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens on Sunday 3 December.

Channel 9 presenter Jessica Braithwaite will compere the carols which feature some of Adelaide’s most popular stars including Swing and Tonic, Tinsel the Reindeer, Nava Revalk and International Tenor Brian Gilbertson.

The Mitcham City Band along with The Australian Girls Choir and the Scotch Pipes and Drums will support family sing-a-longs and the entertainers.

The evening celebrations will also include a nativity scene with live animals and performers from the local churches.

Free face painting and camel and donkey rides for the children together with performances from school choirs will commence at 5.30pm.

Candles and song booklets will be available for purchase on the night from local churches parishioners with proceeds going to local chaplaincy programs. Mitcham Lions and the 1st Centennial Park Sea Scouts will hold a charity BBQ to raise money for community projects.

Glenn Spear Mayor of the City of Mitcham said, “Our annual Carols by the Creek provides a great opportunity for everyone across the City to come together to celebrate the festive season with families and friends.”

“I am looking forward to seeing families enjoying the wonderful music, food and free entertainment at Carols by the Creek this Sunday.”

We have had tremendous support from local businesses including our sponsors, Flinders Private Hospital, Ted Turner Signs, Channel Nine, Kwik Kopy, Zippy and Domain Mitre 10 who have sponsored this event which has allowed us to bring such a great night of Christmas entertainment free to the community” Mayor Spear said.

An audience of around 3,000 is expected to attend Carols by the Creek this year.

Soldier’s Memorial Gardens is located adjacent to the Mitcham Library at Hawthorn and the event runs from 6.45pm until 9pm. The Mitcham Lions BBQ, free face painting and camel and donkey rides and pre-entertainment starts at 5.30pm.
