Spatial Vision for the City

In 2017, Council endorsed the Strategic Management Plan for the City of Mitcham 2017-2017. The Strategic Management Plan helps guide Council's decision making around things like service provision, plans and projects. is a high-level document that sets a clear 10-year vision for the City of Mitcham.

The Spatial Vision for the City seeks to translate Council’s Strategic Management Plan onto a map of the City by identifying:

  • Five key precincts which have opportunity for significant change
  • A set of outcomes to support and guide the development of each key precinct
  • Key connections to, from and within the City
  • Areas for small-scale and gradual change within the City
  • Areas of the City that should be “off-limits” for further development
  • Areas which have a special character

It is important to note that Council’s draft Spatial Vision for the City does not have any legal effect. It represents concepts and ideas only at this stage and may change following community consultation.  Nor is there any guarantee that the State Government will agree to all or any of the plan.  It therefore cannot be relied upon for the purposes of future development proposals, land valuation processes and future development potential for any land depicted therein.

Belair Golf Course and Country Club site Expression of Interest

Deciding the future of Belair Golf Course and Country Club is one step closer, with the State Government now inviting businesses, community groups and non government organisations to submit their proposals for the site by 1 November 2018.

Ideally located in the Adelaide Hills, the site covers more than 50 hectares in the south-west corner of Belair National Park, featuring a function centre, gazebo, club rooms, workshop and sheds, and a variety of tracks, trails and open space.

Environmentally, socially and economically sustainable proposals are encouraged, and Expressions of Interest will be considered for either a portion of, or the whole site.

Deadline for Expressions of Interest Extended to Thursday 15 November 2018

View the Expression of Interest document for more information, including:

  • detailed information about the site’s facilities and features
  • proposal requirements
  • how to submit your Expression of Interest.

This unique opportunity to shape the site’s future as part of Belair National Park is of great importance to the community, with more than 2200 people sharing what they value about Belair National Park and what they feel would be suitable for the site. This information helped guide the Expression of Interest process to ensure future plans for the site meet community, environmental and South Australian Government needs.
