State Heritage Referral Procedure and Advice

The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DENR) have informed Councils that as part of the budget review process in State Government, there has been a reduction in funds available in 2012/2013 financial year for the provision of State Heritage Advisory Service.

From 25 June 2012, all State Heritage Place enquiries and development referrals are to be directed to the State Heritage Unit. These enquiries will be addressed internally by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources Architects. The State Heritage Unit has eight weeks in which to respond to the formal development referral.

What Does This Mean to You

This means that a Heritage Advisor is no longer available at the City of Mitcham Civic Centre to help you with your State Heritage queries.

Written enquiries can be forwarded to or telephone enquiries and meeting requests to the State Heritage Unit on 8124 4960.
