Citizenship Ceremonies

Where do I make Initial Enquiries?

Australian Citizenship applications and enquiries should be directed to the Department of Home Affairs.

To become an Australian citizen, an application must first be lodged with the Department of Home Affairs. Application forms are available online at www.homeaffairs.gov.au. All applicants will be notified by the Department of Home Affairs of the outcome.

The Department of Home Affairs have been conferring new citizens virtually for the past few months, seeing City of Mitcham welcome an astounding 150 new citizens! Welcome to you all.

As of the start of July there have been permissions granted to Councils to be able to host face to face ceremonies as a result of restrictions slowly lifting. At present there isn't a need for us to host a citizenship ceremony, but please stay tuned to our website for the date of our next ceremony.

If you have an urgent need to finalise your citizenship journey, please make contact with the Department of Home Affairs via this email address virtual.citz.ceremony@homeaffairs.gov.au

Information about passports can be found through the Department of Foreign Affairs website www.dfat.gov.au or via phone on 131 232.
