Get Stoked!

Do you have a love of two wheels or know someone who does?

Keen to get some tips on how to be a better rider and make some new mates?

Looking to make better use of your local spot?

Then join the trained BMX and MTB mentors from Lighthouse Youth Projects this March (Apex BMX Dirt Jumps, Watahuna Avenue, Hawthorndene) and April (Suffolk Rd Reserve, Hawthorndene) for their Get Stoked Community Ride Days.

Supported by the City of Mitcham, the Community Ride Days are fun and interactive with tailored skills and mechanics mentoring for all ages. No need to sign up, just come along to be guided by one of the mentors that will be on hand to give tips and support throughout the day for all skill levels.

Bikes and helmets are provided but bring your own if you have one!

Get Stoked Community Ride Days actively encourage both boys and girls of all ages to participate and welcome parents to get involved and ride too!

Free youth skateboard workshops

Are you a beginner, just starting or an intermediate skateboarder wanting to learn more tricks?

Join accredited skateboard coaching staff for a session that will help build self-confidence through skateboarding.

The City of Mitcham has teamed up with Sk8 Therapy to offer young people aged 6-16 years four skate workshops at Karinya Reserve Skate Park, Eden Hills and Avenue Rd Reserve Skate Park, Cumberland Park. Please bring along your own helmet. Pads and a limited number of loan skateboards will be available.  Please ensure you book early to avoid missing out on one of the following sessions:

Monday 20 April

Learn to Skateboard (6-14 years), 9am-10am, Karinya Reserve Skate Park, Eden Hills

Skills sessions (12-16 years), 10am-11am, Karinya Reserve Skate Park, Eden Hills

Tuesday 21 April

Learn to Skateboard (girls only session), 9am-10am, Avenue Rd Reserve Skate Park, Cumberland Park

Learn to Skateboard Skills Session (6-14 years), 10am-11am, Avenue Rd Reserve Skate Park, Cumberland Park

Thursday 23 April

Superhero Roller Disco

Join us Saturday 9 May at Blackwood Community Recreation Centre for a fun Superhero Roller Disco for the entire family.

Dust off your skates, dress up as your favourite superhero or villain and join the action with free face painting, glitter tattoos, plenty of prizes for best dressed, live DJ, roller games and a café open to replenish hungry skaters. Tickets to this popular annual event sell out fast, so make sure you purchase your tickets early to avoid missing out.

When: Saturday 9 May, 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Where: Blackwood Community Recreation Centre, 1 Northcote Rd, Eden Hills

Cost: Tickets (including skate hire) only $10 (pre-purchased) or $15 on the day. Free airbrush and glitter tattoos available.

Details: All ages, however children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult.
