Mitcham to represent SA in Management Challenge
The City of Mitcham will represent South Australia in an Australasian management competition after winning the LG Professionals’ Management Challenge.
A team of six emerging leaders drawn from four divisions of Council including Property, Development, Operations, Performance and Strategy, undertook a series of challenges based on a fictitious council in the online competition.
They demonstrated skills in a range of areas, from presenting and report writing to strategy and business case development.
“We’re really proud of our team who pulled together, relied on each other’s strengths and dedicated themselves to improve with every opportunity,” said City of Mitcham People and Culture Manager and Mentor Sally Niehuus. “By taking part in the competition, team members were challenged to take on new ways of thinking and learn new skills that they will carry on in their work at Council.”
City of Mitcham was presented the award at the Local Government Leadership Excellence Awards on Friday (26 June).
The Council won each category of its nominated awards, including Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery for its Mitcham Memorial Library and Brownhill Creek Redevelopment, and Excellence in Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Infrastructure Management for its permeable paving project at St Marys.
