Congratulations to our Citizen of the Year!
First Nations advocate Dianne Grigg is City of Mitcham’s Citizen of the Year.
An Eden Hills resident, Di has volunteered for the City for many decades with a particular focus on Colebrook Reconciliation Park as part of the Blackwood Reconciliation Group.
She was recognised alongside St Marys volunteer Jody Moate, named Active Citizen of the Year, and Pasadena university student Sudhashree Somers, our Young Citizen of the Year.
The trio were presented their awards at a celebration at Mitcham Memorial Library on the eve of Australia Day.
As part of the celebration, the city welcomed 70 new citizens and presented certificates to grant recipients.
The twilight celebration included a Welcome to Country,
children’s activities including Story Time and
face painting, a free Aussie barbecue and desserts from around the world.
