Centennial Park is hosting a stunning art exhibition by renown SA artists and family Marie Parsons, Allyson Parsons and Henry Cockington.
Born deaf and in rural South Australia, Allyson Parsons has been guided by her mother and former art teacher Marie Parsons as well as distinguished artists David Dridan and the late Ainsie Roberts. Her mentor, internationally acclaimed realist painter Andrew Wyeth, has inspired her approach to art.
Allyson won her first major art prize at the age of 18, despite no formal training. Armed with a plethora of awards, Allyson has commissioned works on display in Adelaide Town Hall as well as private collections in the USA, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Having studied painting and drawing with celebrated artist Robert Hannaford, Marie Parsons commenced her painting career in 1994, following 13 years as an art teacher. Marie’s works have been exhibited frequently throughout South Australia.
