Verge Maintenance

Streetscape Weed Control

Council operates a streetscapes weed control program for the following areas:

Clarence Gardens, Melrose Park, St Marys, Pasadena, Lower Mitcham, Westbourne Park, Netherby, Mitcham, Cumberland Park, Daw Park, Bedford Park, Panorama, Hawthorn, Kingswood, Torrens Park, Colonel Light Gardens, Springfield, Urrbrae, Bedford Park, Clapham, Brown Hill Creek, Shepherds Hill Road, Blackwood CBD area, Coromandel Parade and Craigburn Farm.

Spraying is undertaken up to four times a year. Where there are established lawns, gardens or areas that appear to be maintained by residents, Council will not spray and extra care will be taken to avoid any damage. A No Spray Register is also maintained for residents who choose not to have the verge sprayed and are willing to maintain the area themselves. If you wish to place you property on the no spray register please contact us by calling our Customer Communications team on 8372 8888 or send us an email at mitcham@mitchamcouncil.sa.gov.au.

If the area is not maintained by the resident, Council reserves the right to remove all vegetation and maintain the area as part of the weed control program.

Please download a copy of our Chemical Fact Sheet for information about the herbicides and insecticides used by council in reserves, ovals, parks, garden beds and council verges.

If you do not wish for these chemicals to be sprayed on the verge adjacent your property, please contact Operations Support at mitcham@mitchamcouncil.sa.gov.au or call 8372 8888 and ask to be placed on the ‘No Spray List'.
