Mitcham 2030 is Council’s aspirational plan for future generations. It is Council’s key strategic document that will guide what Council does over the next 10 years.
It considers Council’s previous plan Mitcham 2017-2027, the City of Mitcham’s current profile, what the community have told us they value, as well as future opportunities and challenges.
Mitcham 2030 presents Council’s long-term aspirations for the community, ensuring that effort and investment is directed to the right areas to best meet community needs into the future.
Mitcham 2030 provides:
- 1 Vision – describing how we want the City of Mitcham to be recognised
- 4 Goals – outlining the future aspirations that contribute to the vision
- 12 Themes – providing high level outcomes that contribute to the achievement of our goals

Council endorsed Mitcham 2030 at its meeting on 10 March 2020, following community feedback during October and November 2019.
Mitcham 2030 and a Four Year Delivery Plan (currently being developed) will form Council’s suite of strategic management plans.
As we face the COVID-19 crisis, a strong plan for the future is more important than ever. The Delivery Plan will identify priority themes as areas that Council will focus additional effort and or investment in across the four-year period, and propose new services and projects in addition to existing services.
From the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, Council has taken steps to support residents and ratepayers to ensure the long-term viability of the economy and the safety and wellbeing of the community.
Council is delivering services in new and innovative ways and will continue to focus on its long-term vision through the delivery of new projects and services over the next four years.
