Have Your Say on Mitcham's Built Future

This page will be regularly updated to provide information on how and when to become involved in shaping and responding to Council’s strategic planning projects and relevant State Government initiatives.

Register Your Interest To Attend Structure Planning Workshops

Council is seeking expressions of interest from City of Mitcham residents to attend one or more structure planning workshops from 16-19 October 2017.

These workshops are a key step in shaping Council's response to the State Government's planning reform program, which represents the biggest overhaul to South Australia’s planning system in over 20 years. One of the outcomes of the planning reform will be the replacement of Council's Development Plan with a simplified and generic Planning and Design Code for the whole of the State.

In the lead-up to these workshops Council has identified areas across the City of Mitcham with the potential for significant change and areas where no change is anticipated. The blue areas marked on the spatial vision map are those identified as having potential for significant change. The purpose of the workshops is to begin the process of obtaining clear direction in relation to the types of land uses and physical development that stakeholders and the community wishes to see occur in these areas.

Up to 20 stakeholders will be in attendance at each workshop, including Elected Members, land owners, investors, community groups, residents and various Council and State Government representatives. The output from these workshops will form the basis of broader community engagement to occur in February 2018.

The workshops have been programmed as follows:

Monday 16 October 2017 10am to 3pm – Precincts 4 and 5 (Mitcham and Goodwood Road / Cross Road)

Tuesday 17 October 2017 10am to 3pm – Precinct 1 (Flinders / St Marys)

Wednesday 18 October 2017 10am to 3pm – Precinct 2 (Goodwood Road / Daws Road)

Thursday 19 October 2017 10am to 3pm – Precinct 3 (Blackwood)

All workshops are to be held in the Council Chambers at the City of Mitcham Civic Centre, 131 Belair Road, Torrens Park.

A limited number of spaces are available for residents at each of these workshops. To express your interest in attending one or more of the workshops please send an email with your name, address, telephone number and reason why you would like to be involved to Ben Hignett at bhignett@mitchamcouncil.sa.gov.au

If you have any queries on Council’s structure planning workshops please contact Ben Hignett on 8372 8158.
