City of Mitcham residents are invited to apply for a free tree as part of our 2023 Arbor Day celebrations.
Residents who enter the competition will go in the draw to win a voucher for a young tree valued at up to $50 to be redeemed at State Flora Nursery, Belair, or Adelaide Advanced Trees, Cherry Gardens.
Tree species purchased must be a long-lived species (at least 25 years), a species that can grow to at least four metres’ height at maturity and a species that provides shade when the sun is at its highest point. Applications are due by 25 August.
City of Mitcham is set to celebrate Arbor Day on 1 September 2023 with a tree planting day at Balham Avenue Reserve, Kingswood.
Tree giveaway terms and conditions
- The tree(s) purchased with this voucher must be planted at the nominated planting address on private property.
- This voucher can subsidise the purchase of trees above its value provided the trees meets the criteria below.
- The program is limited to the supply of a predetermined number of vouchers to City of Mitcham property owners. Please notify the Council if you no longer wish to use this issued voucher.
- The voucher cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Applications are due by 25 August 2023.
- Voucher expiry: June 30 2024.
- Trees must meet the following criteria to the satisfaction of nursery staff:
- A long-lived tree species (at least 25 years).
- A tree species that can grow to at least 4 metres in height at maturity.
- A tree species that provides shade when the sun is at its highest point (e.g. tree form is round, spreading, oval, open, weeping and not columnar).
