Open space areas play an important role in the lifestyle of our families as well as the positive impact they have on the amenity of the City. Council remains committed to maintaining these beautiful parks and recreational facilities for everyone to enjoy.
The City of Mitcham's greatest asset is the 232 reserve areas which include natural bushland reserves, developed parks, reserves, playgrounds and lineal reserves along natural creek lines, gardens and waterways suitable for relaxing with the family, kicking a ball, having a BBQ or bushwalking as wells as dedicated dog parks to exercise your dog off the leash in a safe environment under effective control. The total area of open space managed by Council exceeds 460 hectares.
Families can spend the day at one of the 65 playgrounds with many also featuring picnic tables and benches as well as push-button electric barbecues which are available for use free of charge.
