Ministerial approval was granted in March 2022 for amendments to the Planning and Design Code ('the Code'), which are intended to better recognise and maintain residential character in parts of the City of Mitcham.
Changes to the Planning and Design Code include ‘Character Area Overlays’ added to the Code in parts of the following suburbs:
- Belair
- Blackwood
- Coromandel Valley
- Cumberland Park
- Eden Hills
- Hawthorn
- Springfield
- Westbourne Park
Two of these areas have also had a change of underlying zone (i.e. parts of Cumberland Park and Springfield have changed from Suburban Neighbourhood to Established Neighbourhood zone)
