Information about where and when to get vaccinated at the City of Mitcham's free immunisation clinics, who’s eligible for a free flu shot and the current children’s immunisation schedule.

We will be conducting Immunisation Clinics at the Pasadena Community Centre on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday 11 April 2024, 10am to 11am
  • Wednesday 24 April 2024, 10am to 11am (Influenza only clinic)

Immunisation clinics and opening times

We hold four regular public immunisation clinics each month, on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the City of Mitcham Civic Centre and Tiwu Kumangka. Upon your arrival you will be asked to fill out an immunisation consent form. You can either complete and print the form and bring it with you, or pick one up when you arrive at the clinic.

Do I need to book?

You don’t need to book – just arrive between the allocated times with your Medicare card. If you’re bringing a baby under 12 weeks to get vaccinated, please arrive at least 15 minutes before we close.

What do I need to bring?

  • Your Medicare card
  • A copy of your child's previous school immunisation history and their 'immunisation record book' (if you’re bringing a child to be vaccinated)

How do I get a copy of my child's immunisation history?

To get a copy of your immunisation history, log in to your Medicare online account or Express Plus Medicare mobile app (through an existing MyGov account). You can also give the Australian Immunisation Register a call 1800 653 809 and ask for a statement to be sent to you.

What vaccines are offered

We offer government funded childhood and adolescent vaccines on the the National Immunisation Schedule free to Medicare Card holders. Some other vaccines will need payment.

For vaccine information for Australian kids aged 0-7, you can use the Immunisation Calculator to find what vaccines are due and when. If you miss any vaccine doses, the calculator will help by providing a 'catch-up' schedule for future vaccines.

Flu vaccines

All free and paid flu vaccines are now available at any of our public clinics.

The flu vaccine is free if you are classified as 'high risk' (see list below), you’re under 5 or over 65 or considered vulnerable. Otherwise, the flu vaccine costs $22.60 and can be bought by card only.

The free flu vaccine is available for:

  • All pregnant women (any trimester)
  • Anyone aged six months of age or older with the following underlying chronic medical conditions:
    • Cardiac disease
    • Chronic respiratory conditions, including severe asthma
    • Chronic neurological conditions that impact on respiratory function, including hereditary and degenerative central nervous system diseases and seizure disorders
    • Immunocompromising conditions, including immunocompromised due to disease or treatment
    • Diabetes and other metabolic disorders
    • Renal disease
    • Haematological disorders, including haemoglobinopathies
  • Children aged six months to 10 years on long term aspirin therapy who are at increased risk of Reye syndrome following influenza infection
  • All children aged six months to less than five years of age
  • All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over

Vaccines that you will need to pay for

Flu (Influenza Quadrivalent) and Boostrix can be paid for by credit card when you attend one of our clinics.

School immunisation program

We provide a free school immunisation program in all secondary schools in the City of Mitcham. Students in year 7 have their Human Papilloma Virus and Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough.  Students in year 10 have their Meningococcal B and Meningococcal ACWY through the school immunisation program. If you miss a vaccine at school you are welcome to attend one of our clinics to receive your free immunisation.

Worksite influenza clinics
