What is an AED?

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable device used to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to try to restore a normal heartbeat.

Meet the BeneHeart C1A AED

We have chosen the BeneHeart C1A AED because it is:

  • Fast – it delivers a shock in under 8 seconds.
  • Simple – just open the lid to switch it on.
  • Smart – it adjusts its guidance depending on the experience level of the rescuer.
  • Flexible – works for both adults and children at the push of a button.

It also features:

  • Clear voice instructions.
  • Easy-to-follow diagrams.
  • A CPR metronome and real-time feedback to help during resuscitation.
  • Pre-connected adult and child pads.
  • A durable, water- and dust-resistant case.

Where to find an AED

How to use the AED

  1. Open the lid – this automatically powers on the device.
  2. Follow the voice instructions – the device will talk you through every step.
  3. Apply the pads – follow the pictures on the pads for placement.
  4. Let the AED do the work – it checks the heart and advises if a shock is needed.
  5. Continue CPR – follow the metronome and feedback guidance until help arrives.

Don’t be afraid – the AED is designed to guide you and will only deliver a shock if it’s needed.
