Reserve features

Oxford Circus is at the south-west corner of Colonel Light Gardens and features an entrance arch with a tree-lined pathway through the centre of the grassed reserve. This entrance statement was constructed by the Government of South Australia with support for the City of Mitcham and was officially opened on Sunday 22 August 2021, by the Hon Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia, and the Hon Corey Wingard MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first land sales in Colonel Light Gardens.

Reserve history

Oxford Circus, much like Ludgate Circus, was initially designed as a secondary formal entrance to the suburb. It features a charming crescent shape with gardens. By 1930, Oxford Circus had been beautifully planted with trees and shrubs, adding to its appeal and character.
