The planning and design code
All applications are assessed against the Planning and Design Code, which sets out the planning rules across South Australia.
You can explore the Code online to see which policies apply to your property or what provisions your proposal will be assessed against.
If you still have questions after reviewing the Code, please get in touch with our Development Services team on 1300 133 466.
Preparing your documents
The documents you need to submit will depend on the type of development. Without the right information, your application cannot be assessed.
PlanSA provides a Development application checklist to help you prepare.
Here are some simple examples of common site plans (for viewing purposes only and should not be used in your application):
Professional help
For complex applications, you may wish to engage a professional such as a builder, architect, engineer or building designer.
We can’t recommend specific professionals, but you can search the Accredited professionals register through PlanSA.
Fees
Fees depend on the type and cost of your development. You can view the PlanSA fee schedule for details.
Please note: if you lodge your application in person, by post or email through Council, an additional hard copy lodgement fee will apply.
