Charities welcome local fruit
Fruit Share volunteers are doing their bit to ease cost of living pressures by donating fruit to local charities including Fred’s Van at Vinnies Hawthorn.
Fruit Share Adelaide founder Brett Dunstone said there was growing demand from charities for donations to help them cater for people in need.
“There is a real need in the community at the moment,” Brett said. “The charities we support are really grateful for any fruit or vegetables we can provide.”
Brett said during autumn and winter, volunteers would be out and about picking apples, pears and citrus fruits across City of Mitcham and beyond.
In 2025, Fruit Share doubled its first year of production, collecting over 20,250kg of fruit from across Adelaide, including 504kg of fruit from back yards in Mitcham, a total of 33,000kg since we started.
Founded in Mitcham in 2024, Fruit Share now harvests across 22 different council areas in Adelaide.
