Have your say on proposed community battery at St Mary's

The City of Mitcham is seeking community feedback on a proposal to install a 700kW community battery adjacent to St Mary’s Oval on Dorene Street, St Marys.

The battery is being delivered in partnership with the Government of South Australia as part of the emPowering SA program, which aims to support a more affordable, reliable and renewable energy system.

The proposed battery would be located partly within the Dorene Street road reserve and partly on community land at St Mary’s Oval. The proposal would include a lease of approximately 82 square metres of land to the Minister for Energy and Mining for up to 15 years.

Council is seeking feedback on the proposal, including community benefit, safety, visual impact, the proposed lease and long-term management of the site.

Visit Your Say Mitcham to find out more about the proposal and share your feedback.

Consultation closes at 5pm on Thursday 8 October 2026.
