Have Your Say on the Revocation of Community Land
The City of Mitcham is inviting the community to provide feedback on the proposed revocation of the Community Land classification from Wheaton Road Screening Reserve (Lot 17 in Deposited Plan 11335).
Most land owned or managed by Council is classified as Community Land under the Local Government Act 1999. This means the land is intended to be kept and managed for community use and benefit.
Wheaton Road Screening Reserve was originally created to provide screening between the road and adjoining land. As there is a proposal to close the adjoining road reserve, the screening reserve is no longer required for its original purpose and is considered surplus to community needs.
The Local Government Act 1999 requires Council to follow a formal process before Community Land classification can be revoked. This includes seeking community feedback before any decision is made.
We invite you to review the information and share your views on the proposed revocation.
Consultation closes Sunday 30 August 2026.
