Hotel Panorama now open
Premier Peter Malinauskas poured the first beer to officially open the $60 million Hotel Panorama on Friday.
The five-storey development by the Hurley Hotel Group features 77 hotel rooms, a sports bar, rooftop bar with sweeping views from the coast to the foothills, dining spaces and a sunken fire lounge designed for gathering and connection.
Speaking at the launch, the Premier congratulated Peter Hurley and family on the new hotel at 625 Goodwood Road, the largest investment in the business’ history.
“This is yet another great pub that you can be proud of, but more importantly that South Australians can enjoy,” he said. “When the South Australian Government commenced the single biggest infrastructure project in our state’s history, the north-south corridor, it did mean compulsory acquisitions and that unfortunately meant that we lost the Tonsley Hotel.
“But now what we’ve seen come to life is this great new pub in Panorama with a lot of accommodation on offer as well, which speaks to where our economy is going.”
Premier Malinauskas referenced his upbringing in Colonel Light Gardens, saying the Hotel Panorama would have once been his local.
“I can say there is a need for this in this community with some authority – I grew up just down the road, and this would have been the closest pub to home,” he said. “Now Mum and Dad will be the beneficiary of it instead.”
Member for Elder Nadia Clancy MC remembers sharing a beer with locals when the Tonsley Hotel closed its doors in 2023.
“It is really special to see the new Panorama in its place as the additional family pub in our community and I’m really excited to see more people coming to experience all that this area has to offer.”
The development has created more than 150 hospitality and tourism roles across food and beverage, accommodation, gaming, events and management.
Designed as a full-service hospitality destination, the Panorama brings together accommodation, dining, entertainment and events under one roof.
The ground floor offers a casual café bar and restaurant with seating for 90 guests, centred around a sunken fire lounge, alongside a sports bar and outdoor beer garden.
Rooftop bar Wonderland, which opens next week, has views across the coastline and features a gold disco ball pizza oven, twinkling ceiling lights and booth seating.
The Three Brothers Boardroom, named in honour of Peter Hurley’s three great uncles who lost their lives in World War 1, provides space for private dining and meetings.
On the top floor, the Springbank and Kingston function rooms can house up to 70 seated guests or combined to accommodate 300 guests cocktail-style.
