New Library opening hours coming this November

From Monday 2 November 2026, Mitcham Library Service will introduce new opening hours at both Mitcham Memorial Library and Blackwood Library.

The changes have been designed to improve access to library services and respond to feedback from community members who told us they would like libraries to open earlier on weekdays and remain open later on Fridays. Council considered community feedback,  library visitation data, and a range of operating hour options before approving the new hours.

From Monday 2nd November:

Libraries today are much more than places to borrow books. They are welcoming spaces where people come to read, learn, create, work, attend programs and connect with their community.

The new operating hours will better support the way our community uses library services today.

Whether you're visiting to borrow your next great read, attend a program, use free Wi-Fi, study, work or simply enjoy a welcoming community space, we hope the new hours make it easier to access and enjoy The Mitcham Library Service.
