Help shape the future of public and community art in the City of Mitcham. Expressions of Interest now open.

Join the Mitcham Arts Advisory Group

Are you passionate about public and community art? Do you live or work in the City of Mitcham? We’re inviting Expressions of Interest for new members to join the Mitcham Arts Advisory Group (MAAG).

The Mitcham Arts Advisory Group plays an important advisory role, helping shape the future of public and community art across our city. While not a decision-making body, MAAG provides valuable recommendations to Council on:

  • Developing an annual public art program for Council consideration
  • Assessing applications for Public Art Grants
  • Offering input on significant or sensitive public and community art proposals
Membership Details

We’re looking for community members who are practising artists or individuals with a demonstrated interest or knowledge in public and community art.

MAAG generally meets twice a year although there may be other meetings if new projects or initiatives require consideration. Meetings are always on the second Tuesday of the meeting month, from 6pm to 8pm. This is a voluntary role, and members are not eligible to apply for Public Art Grants during their term.

Who we're looking for

Applicants will be considered by a selection panel based on the following criteria:

  • Experience or interest in public or community art
  • Strong community networks and connections in the arts
  • Relevant skills or knowledge that support the group’s work
  • A collaborative and constructive approach to working in an advisory capacity

Members must comply with the current MAAG Terms of Reference and the City of Mitcham’s Public Art Policy. These documents are currently under review, and new members will have the opportunity to contribute to shaping future policies.
