Street Library now open at Woodlake Drive Reserve

Woodlake Reserve Action Group (WRAG) has opened a street library in Woodlake Drive Reserve at Craigburn Farm.

Designed and built by Graham Ellender from the Blackwood Men’s Shed and painted by local artist Kenya Styles, the library is the first to be installed in a park or reserve in the City of Mitcham.

WRAG Chairperson Angela Hills said the library, funded by a City of Mitcham Quick Response Grant, was a wonderful example of community collaboration. “Its positive impact is already evident as the library is being enjoyed by local residents,” Angela said. “It’s a great asset for the
community and for children in particular.”

The artwork features kookaburras and blue wrens, both common visitors to the reserve.
The library was unveiled at a community picnic last month.
