How to celebrate Halloween in Mitcham
City of Mitcham is gearing up to host a series of spooky events – and a Halloween alternative - on Saturday 31 October. These events are supported by City of Mitcham’s grants program.
Halloween on the Storybook Trail
At Carrick Hill, families are invited to Halloween on the Storybook Trail from 5pm to 9pm.
Children aged 4 to 12 are invited to dress in Halloween costumes and follow the trail, stopping along the way at trick-or-treat stations to collect sweet surprises, then enjoy a spooky silent disco.
There will be food trucks serving coffee and snacks to keep grown-ups and trick-or-treaters fuelled for the fun.
Session times start every half hour. Allow approximately one hour to complete the trail. Entry costs from $26.50.
Halloween Roller Disco
The Halloween Roller Disco is set to return to Blackwood Recreation Centre from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Skaters are invited to dress up and enjoy a DJ, skating games, face painting and giveaways.
Tickets are $14, or $20 on the night for skaters, $7 for spectators or $10 on the night. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Light Party 2026
The Blackwood Baptist Church is set to host Light Party 2026 from 3pm to 5pm, a free event for families with primary school aged children who are seeking an alternative to traditional Halloween activities.
Activities include crafts, games, bouncy castles, dance party, face painting or tattoos, free fairy floss and a sausage sizzle (for a small fee).
The Party is at Blackwood Baptist Church, 72 Coromandel Parade, Blackwood.

Halloween Mask Making
Create your own spooky Halloween mask using the traditional paper mâché technique over three weeks starting Thursday 15 October.
Layer strips of paper and glue over a mould to build a unique mask, then let it dry before painting and decorating it with creepy colours, patterns, and details.
Children under 13, and anyone requiring support, must attend with a participating adult. The participating adult must also book in.
Halloween at Pasadena Community Centre
Come along and celebrate Halloween. There’ll be face painting, Halloween speed puzzle challenge, spooky snacks, and plenty of Halloween fun. Don’t forget to dress up in your favourite Halloween outfit.
Halloween Jigsaw Team Challenge
Round up a team of four made up of neighbours, family, friends or people you have met at the community centre for a jigsaw team challenge.
Race against the clock and other teams to complete the same 300-piece puzzle within two hours. Finish first and you win bragging rights for your team! BYO plate to share. $5.00 per team of 2-4 people.
Crafty Kittens Craft-oween Art Market
Enjoy free craft activities and browse Halloween stalls at Blackwood Community Centre, Tiwu Kumangka. Hosted by Pipsqueaks Market and supported by a City of Mitcham grant, the market will be held on Sunday 25 October from 1pm to 5pm. Dress ups encouraged!
