The Sturt River Linear Park aims to create a continuous public open space link from the Patawalonga Basin in Glenelg North to Frank Smith Park in Coromandel Valley. The Cities of Mitcham and Onkaparinga have been jointly funding the progressive development of the Sturt River Lineal Park for many years. The Sturt River Linear Park is a key component of Adelaide’s Metropolitan Open Space System providing a strategic link in the open space network from the Hills to the Coast.
The planned lineal park program will provide a continuous walking and cycling trail from the Coromandel Valley, through Bellevue Heights to South Road where it will connect to existing trails in City of Marion.
Sections are open on the Onkaparinga Council side of Main Road in Coromandel Valley that feature rest areas and links the Frank Smith Park. This section was opened in 2010.
