State and Federal Elections offer a chance to secure support and funding from both current and future governments, ensuring that the City of Mitcham continues to thrive.
The Federal Election was held on 3 May 2025 and the South Australian State Election in March 2026.
Our city falls within two Federal electorates—Boothby and Mayo—and six State electorates, including Elder, Unley, Bragg, Davenport, Waite, and Heysen. To prepare, we’ve developed an advocacy approach focused on promoting valuable funding opportunities, securing support for priority projects and building strong relationships across all levels of government.
Following the Federal election funding has been pledged to the following projects within the City of Mitcham:
- $500,000 - Blackwood Recreation Centre Changerooms and New Gym Equipment
- $800,000 - Relocation of Blackwood and Community RSL to a new purpose built space at Simla Parade, co-located with the Blackwood Bowling Club
- $750,000 - Sturt River - Urban Rivers and Catchments Program
- $150 million (matched by Flinders University) - Flinders HealthCARE Centre
- $3.5 million - Sturt Football Club / Urrbrae Agricultural High School
- Renewable energy and low emissions technologies:
- $2.3 billion - Cheaper Home Batteries Program
- $150 - Direct energy bill relief for every household and around one million small businesses
- $800 million - Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative
- $100 million Community Energy Upgrades Fund
Below, you’ll find a list of the key projects we’re advocating for in the upcoming State Elections, tailored to each electorate. We look forward to working together to make a positive impact on our community.
