Are you an artist who wants to help us build a strong cultural identity in the City of Mitcham? We offer public art grants to help you bring our spaces to life.
What is the Public Art Grants?
Art is an expression of culture. Not only does public art help us activate vibrant spaces in our community, but it also helps us build a strong cultural identity.
Public art can be traditional (like memorials, monuments, sculptures and murals), contemporary (like sound installations, laser projections, aerosol art and street banners), or functional (like fountains, street furniture and paving).
When do applications open?
Expressions of interest to create public art along Winston Avenue are now closed.
To find other funding opportunities we encourage you to use this online grant finder, a service offered by the City of Mitcham to help you identify funding to support your project.
Artist register
We are committed to supporting local artists, artistic expression and experiences within the city. The register will showcase local artists or artists connected to the City of Mitcham to the wider community. Council endeavours to utilise the register for projects, networking and forum purposes.

Mitcham Art Advisory Group
Mitcham Art Advisory Group (MAAG) reviews contentious public art proposals and gives us recommendations on how to handle them. You can read the MAAG terms of reference here or view the agenda and minutes here.
The group also awards public art grants each financial year.
