How we maintain trees in the City of Mitcham

It’s our responsibility to maintain trees in streets and on reserves in the City of Mitcham. Our qualified team of arborists undertake a regular program of pruning, treating pests, watering and staking saplings.

We ask that residents don't prune, remove or alter street or reserve trees in any way.

If you’d like to make a request or report an issue, fill out one of the forms below and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Make a request or report an issue:

Report a fallen tree or tree branch

Our tree policy

Our tree policy says that we’ll do our very best to preserve trees when we can, but sometimes this is out of our control. This means that if a tree dies or gets damaged, and it poses an unacceptable risk to the public that we can’t manage or mitigate in any other way, we may decide to remove the tree.

If the tree is not dead or diseased, isn’t a declared pest species, it doesn’t pose a risk to the public, and it’s over five metres tall, our tree maintenance team needs to get permission from Council before they remove the tree. Regulated or significant trees may also need permission from Council before they’re removed.
