The Autumn leaf street sweeping program is underway and focuses on streets lined with deciduous trees. We aim to blow and sweep leaves on these roads and footpaths on a fortnightly basis for a ten week period, usually between the months of April to June. Delays in sweeping may be experienced due to weather and higher leaf falls.

The City of Mitcham gives funding to local history groups whose research projects educate the community and celebrate our heritage.

What is the Maggy Ragless Memorial Grant?

The Maggy Ragless Memorial Grant supports local history and heritage projects in honour of the late City of Mitcham historian, Maggy Ragless. Maggy served as the City’s historian from 1986 until 2012 and was passionate about sharing our local history with the community.

In this spirit, the grant funds local history groups to help them maintain our rich heritage. A total funding pool of $5,000 is available, including:

  • $2,000 for local history research projects
  • $3,000 for local history groups

Who can apply for this grant?

You can apply for grant funding if your research project celebrates our local history and educates our community.

Every research project that receives grant funding needs to be added to the City’s historical catalogue or made accessible to the public. You can find the full eligibility criteria and funding conditions in the Grants Policy and the Maggy Ragless Memorial Grant Guidelines.

When do applications open?

Applications are now open. You can apply for the Maggy Ragless Memorial Grant at any time until the funding pool is totally allocated. Please make sure you include all relevant paperwork with your submission.
